At Daltons, we like to play our part in the local community.

We are proud of our fund raising record. Each year our staff nominates a Charity of the Year and we host a variety of fund raising events, including our annual charity cricket match. In the past we have raised funds for Hope, Canine Partners, The Naomi White Charity and Rowans Hospice.

Liss Cricket Club

Daltons have sponsored Liss Cricket Club for nearly ten years. The club currently runs 3 Saturday league teams, 1 Sunday friendly team, a midweek team participating in three competitions, an under 15's youth team and an under 11's youth team and has seen a significant rise in on field success over the past few years.  The First XI currently compete in the Hampshire County League Division 1. The Club narrowly missed out on promotion to the Southern Premier League last season and are hoping to go one better this year.

Daltons Annual Charity Cricket Shield competition is one of the highlights of our sponsorship events.  Now in its ninth year the Daltons team has grown from turning out an eleven with a range of experience from a few who played regularly to those who had never even held a cricket bat! Our match this year is will be held on the 6 August at Liss Cricket Club and with the tally at four match wins apiece you can be sure of an exciting match with all proceeds going to our Charity of the Year.

Life in Petersfield  Awards

2010
This year we will be presenting the Green Initiative Award on 16th April 2010.

2009

When we were approached to sponsor an award it didn’t take long us for to decide on a category very close to our hearts – the best Pub, Restaurant or Café of the Year.

At very short notice, Director Michael Dalton was happy to join the judging panel. Careful consideration was given to all nominations in each category and after a very long evening the awards were decided upon.

The Life in Petersfield Business and Community Awards 20009 Awards Ceremony was held at Petersfield Festival Hall on the 3 April when Sarah Jordan presented the prize for Best Pub, Restaurant or Café of the Year to the Folly Wine Bar.

Jacks Place

Many of you will know of Naomi House which is the childrens hospice for Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Wiltshire and the fringes of West Sussex and Surrey. They help over 220 families with life limiting conditions and support their families.

They are currently running a £12 million appeal to build, equip and run a new establishment, Jack’s Place, which will provide hospice care for young people. The building will include six bedrooms with en suite bathrooms big enough to accommodate wheelchairs, specialist medical equipment and supplies, and to provide privacy, independence and dignity.

The staff at Daltons, their friends and family collect milk bottle tops which are converted into cash for Jack’s Place.

Petersfield Infant School

The school caters for 273 children with ages ranging between 4 and 7.  In December 2008 the school received a Grade 1 – Outstanding Ofsted report.

The school is participating in The Eco-Schools Programme which focuses on nine key environmental topics - water, biodiversity, energy, global perspectives, healthy living, litter, school grounds, transport and waste.   As part of the waste topic Daltons are delighted to accept bottle tops from the children which we in turn add to our own collection for Jack’s Place which is in line with our own ethos of sustainability.  At Daltons solicitor Sarah Jordan specializes in sustainable law.

Mill Rythe Infants School

Mill Rythe Infant School, purpose-built in 1974, stands in a delightful natural setting of trees, grassland and shrubs through which paths have been cut to encourage children to explore.  It shares this site with the neighbouring Junior School and is a non denominational school catering for both boys and girls.

Daltons was delighted to sponsor the school’s Summer Fete again.  The fete was held in the school grounds on Sunday 7 June.  Our sponsorship last year contributed to the fantastic sum of £3,300 raised last year which enabled the school to make the outside play areas and playgrounds more stimulating for the children.

Midhurst Rother College

Midhurst Rother College has a strong commitment to working with businesses and the community and in line with our sustainability ethos Daltons were delighted to offer our support to their third Eco- Day.

Businesses exhibited their eco-friendly goods and services, organic food was cooked to order and more than 40 Morsbags made by volunteers were given away to the public.

Families took part in eco-activities provided by Midhurst Rother College and Camelsdale First School pupils. These included using natural dyes, pot painting, investigating pondlife using microscopes and reuse of newspaper by making bags, flower pots and logs.

Daltons Solicitor Sarah Jordan has a keen interest in sustainability and said that the event was very interesting and very well supported.  Sarah is helping to launch The Midhurst Greening Campaign.
